The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) hopes to further develop broadcasting in the region through the Pacific Media Partnership Conference which is being held in Fiji for the first time this week.

ABU Secretary General Javad Mottaghi says it is essential for their organization to pay more attention to broadcasters in the Pacific Islands.

Mottaghi says the conference is helping address challenges and opportunities that the media industry faces.

“This kind of gathering is an opportunity for broadcasters to dicuss and exchanges their views and experience and find solutions to localize it. I’m happy see that this Pacific Media Partnership Conference that ABU initiated is going on well and it turns to be the unique media gathering for the region and ABU will fully support that.”

The ABU was established in 1964 to help in the development of the broadcast industry.
