Fiji Taxi Association’s former general secretary, Rishi Ram claims that he was authorised to withdraw money from FTA’s account.
Ram told FBC News that President Vincent Singh and former Acting Vice President Andrew Hassan authorised him to take loans from FTA.
He claims that the matter was discussed in their last committee meeting and he doesn’t understand why it is brought up now.
“It is indeed sad to say that this matter has surfaced now. In fact this matter was resolved at out previous committee meeting infront of everyone. The authority was given to me by the president to withdraw the money and deposit it. Secondly, the account was audited and the auditor made it clear that every cent was there in the bank.”
Ram also claims officials from the FTA are trying to tarnish his name.
“It seems that there are some people who are keen to tarnish my name and reputation. I cant understand why it is being brought up now.”
FTA President, Vincent Singh is yet to comment on the matter.
