Fijians overseas urged to register

Government wants all Fijians living abroad to register so they can also have a say in the next elections.
Elections Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says when Fiji nationals living abroad come over – they should not hesitate to register at any of the voter registration centres.
Sayed-Khaiyum says they are working on a system to ensure that locals abroad get registered by 2013.
After this 1st phase – we are looking at developing a process or system of registering them in their country of residence at the moment. That has not been finalised yet. But most definitely there is an administrative and indeed political will and desire to have them registered.
Sayed-Khaiyum says once the system is finalised – Fiji citizens living offshore will be notified.
