Rise in taxi robbery concerns police

The Police Force has once again recorded an increase in robberies against taxi drivers and is warning drivers to be careful.
Statistics reveal that an average of two taxi drivers’ are robbed every week.
In the latest incident three teenagers assaulted and robbed a 53 year-old taxi driver in Lami yesterday afternoon. They got away with $100 cash.
Two of them are now in police custody.
On Sunday morning three men robbed a taxi driver in Toorak and stole $90 cash, taxi meter and car radio.
The suspects had hired the taxi from a night club in Suva.
The Force says taxi operators should consider their safety at all times and drive to the nearest Police Station or Community Post if they feel threatened .
