Western Rugby winner Lautoka Central College will be out to prove themselves again in rugby union on Friday when they face neighbouring Natabua High School in the Western Play-offs.
And organisers have thanked FRU’s scrum call which they believe has greatly helped lessen injuries.
Fiji Secondary Schools western zone vice president Lionel Danford says rugby is a contact sport and while injuries can’t be predicted, it can be prevented.
“So our job as organizers is to make sure that the safety of players is paramount and that is why we are engaging in professionals to get a first aid team from the Red Cross. For us we don’t have any s St.Johns in Lautoka so we’re engaging Red Cross and we are getting doctors from hospital, and even some teachers here are credited first aid officers so we all help each other in managing injuries during the competitions here in Lautoka especially for Western Zone two secondary schools rugby union"
Lautoka Central is banking on four of its players who will be key players in helping Central book a Deans quarter-final spot.
They have the services of Eneri Ratudradra, son of Sitiveni Ratudradra a prominent figure in rugby 15’s code and also Peceli Talebula, the younger brother of national rep and France bound Metuisela Talebula
Lautoka Central meets Natabua at 3:20 on Friday while in the U18 tier two play- offs, Ba Provincial Free Bird Institute and Ratu Navula battle at 2pm at Churchill Park.
