All police traffic officers have been told to play a more pro-active role on our roads.
The directive came from Police Commissioner Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua as he opened a two-day Breathalyser Operators’ workshop at the Nasova Police Academy today.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra says they will need new equipment to assist them on the roads.
“If you talk about enforcement, the most important part is how efficient and effective they are. The new equipment that we have is just a phasing out of the old and in with the new. This will definitely improve our service.”
The new equipment includes devices to test driver’s alcohol levels and to clock the speed of vehicles on the road.
