Padarath to appear in Court

Local businessman Ben Padarath will appear in Lautoka Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Padarath was arrested by police early this morning for allegedly trying to flee the country.

Police director operations – SSP Rusiate Tudravu says Padarath was found hiding in an overseas vessel at the Queens Wharf in Lautoka.

“I can confirm that he has in possession cash (three thousand Australian Dollars) but our investigation is still continuing. So according to the shipping schedule it is going to New Caledonia then to Sydney – that is what we have been told in regards to the schedule of the outgoing vessel.”

A bench warrant was issued for his arrest yesterday after he failed to turn up at a court hearing.

He was allegedly wearing a Ports Authority uniform at the time of the arrest.
