Sugar industry stakeholders have expressed their satifaction on the progress made by many cane farmers who have planted new varieties of cane.

The initiative was made possible under the cane revolving fund program which was funded by the government and the Sugar cane Growers Fund.

A total of $9m is used for the program.

Sugar Cane Growers Council Acting chief executive Sundresh Chetty says they are now encouraging cane farmers to plant other varieties of cane like nadiri-kaba instead of only planting mana variety.
