Some parts of the road at Urata village in Savusavu have been washed out due to the heavy downpour causing difficulties for DISMAC team to go to the other side of the town.
Divisional Planning Officer Northern Alipate Bolalevu told FBC News it’s really difficult to cross since rocks are blocking the roads.
Bolalevu says they have received reports that Savusavu has been badly damaged by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
Reports that have come in confirm that yachts, electric poles and houses are the worst affected.
Bolalevu says a bus was also washed inland by a strong tidal wave last night.
He adds there was a delay in receiving news about the curfew as they were experiencing communication problems since the day.
DISMAC Officers in the North are yet to release details on effects of TC Winston.
Confirmations have also come in that 133 people that were stranded in Savusavu town have been evacuated to Yaroi village hall and church.
