Man sentenced for abduction and rape

A man has been sentenced by the Suva High Court to eight years for abducting and raping a woman in August 2010.
Justice Salesi Temo gave Krishneel Sharma the longest jail term while his accomplice Jack Prasad was sentenced to 6 months in prison.
Three other accomplices Sada Singh, Premila Devi and Ana Prasad were given suspended sentences.
They picked up the victim after work saying they’ll take her home, but instead took her to Nasese and then to a bus depot in Tamavua.
From there she was taken to Sawani and raped by Krishneel Sharma.
In their defence, the five claimed that the victim was having an affair with Sada Singh, one of the abductors.
