The Copra Millers of Fiji says there’s a huge demand for coconut oil overseas.
Malaysia and Taiwan are Fiji’s biggest markets and Acting General Manager John Deo hopes that with the increase in copra price from this month Fiji will now be able to meet the expectations of buyers.
A 20% increase in copra price came into effect from 1st April.
“We encourage our farmers to invest more in their copra plantation and take advantage of the price increase and recover the loss that they sustained during the recent Cyclone.”
Copra farmers will now get one hundred and sixty four dollars more for one tonne of copra.
Deo says 20% of copra farmers have suffered huge losses due to the recent cyclone.
