Fiji’s High Commissioner to PNG, Romanu Tikotikoca has started work to revive the PNG-Fiji Business Council.
Tikotikoca has started consolidating support in PNG for the proposed move and a planned meeting with interested stakeholders is set for the end of this month.
Immediately upon taking up his new appointment in Port Moresby, Tikotikoca started reaching out to prominent business people in PNG that will be key to re-establishing the Business Council.
These include Mahesh Patel of the CPL group and Restaurateur, Michael Ah Koy and Graham Osborne.
A Bilateral Trade Agreement between Fiji and PNG and a Double Taxation Treaty signed in 1998 between the two countries is already facilitating trade.
A statement says with the revival of the PNG- Fiji Business Council and its counterpart in Fiji the Fiji-PNG Business Council, trade and investment between the two countries is set to grow.
