The Fijian culture practices and maintains peace at all levels says Ministry of Itaukei Affairs representative, Simione Savudredre.
He made the statement at the Pacific Centre for Peace Conference yesterday.
“The Itaukei philosophy is guided by peace or sautu at all levels, the customs, the rituals, the protocols, the feasts and ceremonies are all designs to placate for and promote sautu. While the aim is the obtaining and maintaining of sautu, the processes vary. There are processes or practices that require kinship participation from the micro familia level to macro vanua level.”
TISI Sangam Chief Executive Jai Narayan says education will play a vital role in promoting peace throughout the Pacific.
