Fiji to host COP23 next year

Fiji has become the first Pacific Island nation to be given the responsibility of presiding the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP23.
In accepting the presidency of COP23 to be held in Bonn, Germany next year, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama reiterated his call to the United States of America to show leadership on the issue of Climate Change.
Bainimarama says Fiji will do everything in its power to fulfil its duty to place climate change at the top of the agenda.
The Prime Minister has also reiterated his call to US President elect Donald Trump to abandon his current position that manmade climate change is a hoax.
Bainimarama has thanked all Asia-Pacific nations for giving Fiji the opportunity to show leadership by presiding over COP23. He has pledged that Fiji will do everything in its power to draw global attention to climate change.
