Pacific Batteries Limited in Lami claims there was no spillage of sulphuric acid, also known as battery acid, near the Lami bridge last night.
However, the National Fire Authority says it’s staff cleaned up a spill when they arrived at the scene where a container truck had overturned.
According to the Quality Control Manager Pacific Batteries, -Tula Ram – the container reached their site safely and there was no spillage last night .
“The smokes are coming out once it gets in contact with soil or whatever substance so igf there is spillage on the road i’m sure you must have observed some smoke coming out at the site so there was none at that time.”
Police are requesting residents living near the Lami Bridge to adhere to their advice not to swim or fish in the immediate area as a precautionary measure .
