The Registrar of Political Parties has suspended the One Fiji Party for 30 days with immediate effect for contravening Section 26 of the Political Parties Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures Act 2013.
Registrar Mohammed Saneem says the One Fiji Party was required to submit its audited account by 31st March, 2016, however they have not received anything till date despite sending numerous reminders.
He says the Act requires all parties to provide the Registrar, within three months after the end of each financial year, the record of accounts of its income, expenditure, asset and liabilities by an auditor certified by the Fiji Institute of Accountants.
The Party has sixty days to remedy the breach or face deregistration as a Political Party.
Saneem says during the period of suspension, One Fiji Party cannot operate, function, represent or hold itself out to be a political party.
