Police fear that the escaped inmates are receiving assistance from more than one person.
Police Acting Chief Operations Officer SSP Rusiate Tudravu says there is no link established yet between the robberies and the prison break.
He says if the two are connected, then the five men are not working alone.
Police also investigated the prison break that happened on Monday night.
Tudravu says the escape was not a spur of the moment thing but a well planned and executed work which requires help from outside.
Meanwhile, the only place that was robbed yesterday by five masked men was the BSP bank in Samabula.
The robbers drove into the bank by breaking down a wooden wall of the bank and made off with briefcases containing an undisclosed sum of money.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says neither the robbers or the escapees have been caught.
Police have announced a $2,000 reward for anyone who will provide information leading to the arrest of the five escapees.
Police confirm the military is providing the necessary assistance as usual but the operation is still very much under the Fiji Police Force.
The five on the run are Isoa Waqa, Solomoni Qurai, Tevita Sugu, Josaia Usumaki and Epeli Qaraniqio.
Qurai is serving life for murder while others doing lengthy terms for violent robberies.
