The Ministry of Transport will not remove the Fiji Roads Authority.
This was confirmed by the Minister responsible Parveen Bala saying they will only address the loop holes to ensure FRA‘s effectiveness.
“The issue here is not to remove FRA, the issue here is to strengthen and this I what was highlighted. Few weeks ago, I was in Nasikawa village in Labasa and the roads in that village has not been upgraded so many years back so during my visit I have assured and the next just after a few days the roads have been upgraded so let’s not talk about removing FRA, let’s talk about how we can strengthen, how we can work together to see that things are done.”
Bala says the ministry has set up FRA divisional offices with more technical staff to accelerate FRA works in all divisions.
He adds FRA has also signed a code practice for utility operators to enhance its co-ordination between agencies in terms of services delivery.
