EU signs multi-million dollar deal with PIFS

The European Union has signed a forty four million dollar agreement with the Pacific Island Forum.
EU Director General Stefano Manservisi says the mutli-million dollar deal will help the Pacific Island Forum member countries with investment in infrastructure and to support the expansion of private sector growth.
“We are putting money here in order to support the programmes which are defined by the pacific people through their institution and countries. In order to create opportunities for investment and generating jobs, with this investment facility 20million Euro this is $44million.”
PIFS Secretary General Dame Meg Taylor said this sustainable investment will help diversify member countries’ economies and will help them connect to other international markets.
The European Union is also collaborating with many Pacific island countries on the management of ocean and coastal resources and waste management as part of its Indicative programme 2014-2020.
