Fuel prices have effectively increased today changing over at midnight last night.

Minister for Trade – Faiyaz Koya says this is because of a cutback in production by OPEC countries as well as fluctuations in international currencies.

Koya adds, Fijians can use this increase as a means to be more environmentally conscious given Fiji’s leadership of the UN’s Climate Change meeting, COP23 in November.

“Our Prime Minister has taken up the COP23 Presidency with respect to climate change so we’re asking all citizens to be mindful of the fact that Fiji is been showcased around the world and as such, be careful how you use the fossil fuels at the end of the day, there is a cost factor attached to this also.”

Motor spirit has increased to one dollar and ninety five cents.

Premix one dollar and eighty cents now. Kerosene has gone up 10 cents to one dollar and thirty six cents and Diesel is a dollar sixty.

LPG prices have also been revised. The 12 kg cylinder has the biggest jump, up five dollars sixty cents to thirty seven dollars and seventy one cents.

A four point five kg cylinder will now cost fourteen dollars and fourteen cents, up more than two dollars.
