A new site for a proposed international airport in the North is being looked into.
Speaking at a budget consultation in Labasa last night, Civil Aviation Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum revealed they had earlier planned to construct one at Seaqaqa.
However Sayed-Khaiyum says this was not suitable and they are now looking for an alternative site with more land and space.
“We have to think 50 years down the track. But we have to choose a site where you can actually have the ability to expand the runway or when the need does arise.”
Sayed-Khaiyum says Airports Fiji Limited is assessing another site in Vanua Levu.
