The Vodafone Hibiscus Festival officially got underway in Laucala Bay, Suva today.
The mother of all festivals is always a family affair and people are out enjoying their Saturday with loved ones.
FBC News spoke with festival goers who say it is a good way to start the school holiday.
“I can tell it’s fun because the atmosphere is full of kids of all ages and they are enjoying carnival rides and amusements.”
“I think whenever we’re free, we will be coming here to have a great time since children are on school holidays now, so it’s a good place to bring them and hang out.”
Many Fijians say this year’s Festival is much more fun as there’s more rides and food stalls.
“Lot of crowd here and I really enjoy this crowd as there are many kids outside and seems like they really like this year’s festival.”
“A lot of people are here and I am very happy for that. We’re looking forward to everyone that’s gonna be coming here so we can sell toys.”
Light showers during the day did not dampen the spirit of festival goers, who say the Hibiscus Festival is incomplete without rain.
