Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya today set the record straight on how the Micro Small Business Grant scheme commonly referred to as the MSBG is managed.
Koya called out Opposition MP Mosese Bulitavu on comments he made on Monday’s session that suggested that the Ministry was struggling to monitor the more than 12 thousand recipients of the MSBG.
“This is an out and out fabrication concocted by the honourable Bulitavu, in fact Madam Speaker, the Permanent Secretary himself is involved in spearheading the monitoring, evaluation and mentoring program for all our grant recipients.”
The fiery debate led to an interjection by Speaker of the House Dr. Jiko Luveni with Koya refuting claims made by more than one opposition MP.
“That if there is any information stated in this house that misleading, the onus is on the MPs, you MPs yourselves to correct that misleading information, just a mere withdrawal is not effective.”
Endorsing the President’s address in its entirety, Koya added that in terms of legislative reform, his Ministry was working on developing the Consumer Credit Act.
