A delegation from Indonesia’s Ministry of women’s empowerment and child protection are in the country for a scoping mission of capacity building on gender responsive planning and budgeting for Fiji and other Pacific development officers.
The Ministry’s senior advisor, Dr. Heru Kasidi says they will be looking into areas of gender equality, women economic empowerment, child welfare and protection.
“We are collecting information form the ministry of women here and also we’re going to collect information from other ministries and from there we will formulate what kind of co-operation is needed and also to see which area we still can improve on. So that can strengthen the capacity of the Fijian government in integrating gender quality into the development program in Fiji.”
Kasidi says the mission is a way of reiterating their commitment in strengthening bilateral relations as stated in an agreement signed between the two countries in 2013.
