The shortage of teachers for specific subject will be a topic of discussions during the 120th Fiji Principal’s Association conference that is underway in Suva.
Association President Miriama Naicegucegu says finding specific subject teachers has been a challenge for most schools for some time now.
”We are happy with the response of the Permanent Secretary who had guaranteed that we have a volunteer scheme in place where the retiree can be engaged on a volunteer contract on an annual basis to address the shortage, and their performance will be reviewed on an annual basis.”
While officiating at the conference, Education Permanent Secretary Iowane Tiko challenged the 151 school heads to be good points of contacts for students, teachers and other relevant stake holders.
Meanwhile, e-ticketing will also be discussed during the Fiji Principals Conference, which ends tomorrow.
