Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum revealed in parliament today that National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad was put on notice by the Fiji Electoral Commission after he allegedly threatened the Commission.
NFP Leader, Professor Biman Prasad responded saying that the Attorney General should not mislead the parliament.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that he is not misleading anyone and read a letter from the electoral commission.
“The electoral commission put you on notice that will not hesitate to take necessary action including legal and penal actions should it find or feel that Dr Prasad or the NFP resort to direct or indirect attempts and or intimidation of the electoral commission and its members.”
Professor Prasad says that they will reply to the commission’s letter.
“I obviously don’t agree with that and we will be responding to that letter and its wrong for the Attorney General to come into parliament, to come and suggest that I threatened the electoral commission, I think you should withdraw that.”
Sayed-Khaiyum refused to withdraw his comments.
