Sixty eight families of Omkar in Nasinu do not have to worry about their housing future, with the issuance of 99-year leases to them last night.
Attorney General Aiayz Sayed-Khaiyum says the leases have been issued so that these dwellers could use this as a tool to better their future.
He says families could also take advantage of First Home Buyers initiative to build stronger homes.
“This is the crown lease that is being issued to you and what it mean and the reason why we have the CEO of the Tower Insurance here and the banks was supposed to be here but there is some confusion ,the ministry of Lands will actually arrange it for you.The banks will also come over ,we want to be able to give to you an attractive interest rate so that you can build your first home ,a proper first home ,a concrete home and when you build that home you should also insure it.”
According to Sayed Khaiyum twenty more families will also be given their land leases at Omkar in the near future .Government had issued registered leases to about 200 families in the Western Division last week .
