A tablet used for this year’s census went missing in the Western Division last night.
Senior Statistician Bureau of Statistics Emali Soderberg confirmed this saying that all the information that was in the tablet are secured.
“A tablet for one of the enumerators went missing last night. We were fortunate because we have retrieved it and also fortunate for us that none of the information that was on the tablet went missing. As with any big exercise we are bound to have things like this to happen.”
Soderberg reiterated that the public should not be discouraged by this.
“All information gathered during the past few days are kept confidential, its in our server, so the public should not be worried that any information is out there. All information that comes into the tablet gets synced straight away and once it gets synced it removed from the tablet completely. So everything is safe with us and we are encouraging the public to continue to be cooperative to our enumerators.”
The enumerator was counseled and given a warning letter and is back working on the grounds.
Census is expected to be completed in two weeks’ time.
