FICAC to appeal Magistrates decision

The Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption will be appealing against the judgment on acquitting a Land Transport Authority officer of one count of bribery.
Filimoni Bola, a Certifying Officer with LTA was charged by FICAC in 2015 for one count of bribery. He was alleged to have accepted an advantage of over fifty dollars from a person an account of passing a vehicle without conducting an inspection for its fitness.
He was acquitted of the charge by Magistrate Mosese Naiva at the Lautoka High Court on Thursday.
FICAC will appeal against the judgment based on several grounds of appeal.
They say the appeal is based on recognized legal principles and the evidence led during the trial.
