The Fiji Master Builders Association members have given its president, Vijay Raghwan, a fresh mandate to engage directly with the government.
This was one of the key messages that came out of the Association’s recent annual general meeting in Suva.
Raghwan says they have had active engagement with ministries on various issues.
He says an issue they hope to pursue is the review of entry requirements for trade courses at technical institutions.
The association also hopes to discuss about building codes with the authorities in hopes to enforce proper licensing and accreditation of all building contractors in the country.
Meanwhile, the association has also reminded their members to familiarize themselves with their building contracts.
The members have also been advised to brace themselves for a construction boom with major projects announced by the government and private investors.
