Some Fijians have developed a culture of commenting on certain posts on social media without any proper verification’s.
This was highlighted by Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, who says we need to practice transparency not only in organisations but on various social media platforms as well.
“There are alot of people who are making comments on comments without actually verifying the facts and frankly you can actually verify the facts very easily. So please if you want to create or be serious about addressing issues – you need to be able to address these issues in a factual manner. You need to be able to tackle the issues that we do face in a manner that is transparent and not in a manner that is reliant upon rumours.”
Sayed-Khaiyum was speaking at the International Anti-Corruption Day in Suva where youths from Fiji and the Pacific shared their ideas on how to tackle corruption.
