Former primary school teacher found guilty

A former class four primary school teacher in Nasinu has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault charges.
Today three assessors and High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo found the man guilty of the sexual offenses against school children.
While giving his judgement this afternoon, Judge Justice Salesi Temo said he agreed entirely with the assessors’ verdict and found the 35-year-old man guilty of all thirteen charges.
Justice Temo says he found the testimony of all nine complainants credible and believes that they were telling the truth.
In his closing statement, Defence Counsel Amand Ravindra Singh asked the court to take into account the fact that the man is married with a seven-year-old daughter.
He will be sentenced for four counts of rape and nine counts of sexual assault of students.
The incidents occurred from 2010 to 2012.
The former teacher has been remanded and will be sentenced at 12pm tomorrow.
