The Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption has prosecuted some government workers for corruption-related offenses.
Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says an environment needs to be created where there is no such criminal act.
“As we have seen some of the matters that FICAC has recently prosecuted were people within government and you can see that some of these people are middle management level who are getting various favours from the people who actually got the tenders. So you have to be mindful, corruption is something that you need to be able to deal with in a holistic manner."
Sayed-Khaiyum was speaking at an International Anti-Corruption workshop in Suva where he also highlighted to youths how important it is to develop a culture of transparency.
