The Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption has lodged an appeal with the Suva High Court against the Judgment of Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili acquitting former Minister for Education Dr. Mahendra Reddy.
Dr Reddy was charged with one count of bribery and one count of undue influence.
It was alleged that on May 8th, Dr Reddy offered steady water source for Ra High School to influence the vote of one Waisea Lebobo who is the school manager.
It was also alleged that Dr Reddy interfered with the free exercise or performance of a political right of Lebobo.
Dr Reddy pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was acquitted on the first of this month.
FICAC has appealed on eight grounds of appeal and now awaits the notice from the High Court for the matter to be heard.
