Villagers of Mouta and Wainidrua in the District of Nadogo in Macuata have been reminded that no one has the right to assault any other person, be it a man, woman or child.
Speaking to the villagers yesterday, Divisional Police Commander North SSP Verani Nakauyaca says the Crimes Decree doesn’t allow for a violent treatment of another person.
SSP Nakauyaca told male villagers, they don’t have the right to hit their wife, adding that if they do, the wife has every right to report the matter to any police post or police station.
He also reminded the villagers that by law, no Police Officer is allowed to try and reconcile the husband and wife after a domestic violence report is lodged.
SSP Nakauyaca says reconciliation will happen in court.
