A large crowd gathered to take part in the march organized by the Fiji Trades Union Congress in support of the striking ATS workers.
Other Trade Union members, politicians, NGO’s and families and friends of the striking ATS workers were also part of the march supporting the strike which
has been declared illegal by the Employment Minister.
Filipe Naikaso is in Nadi and filed this report:
“The march started at around 10:30 am from the Nadi temple area and people from all walks of life gathered showing their support for ATS workers who are currently in a deadlock with their management.
The supporters marched through the Nadi town and were heard singing and cheering saying they wanted justice for the workers.
They were also saying they needed to fight for the workers rights and also that enough is enough.
Ordinary members of the public were also present during the march along with members from political parties including Lynda Tabua, FTU General Secretary, Agni Deo Singh, Unionists Daniel Urai and Felix Anthony.
They all have gathered at Nadi District School where the formalities of speeches are taking place and after which they will meet and greet the ATS workers on strike and later have a Talanoa session.”
