Around 2,500 people including politicians and various political party supporters together with striking ATS workers march through Nadi this morning in support of ATS workers who had illegally worked off their jobs five weeks ago.
The march started from the Nadi temple and ended at Nadi District School where a free concert was held for the public.
Around six thousand people had later gathered at the school compound.
ATSET Secretary, Vili Finau, says they were marching for the rights of striking workers.
“I think we achieved more than what we expected. We started on schedule and the march went through town and we had spectators from both sides of the street supporting us. The main message we want to get across is justice for all and that the workers’ rights movement is active.”
The participants sang and cheered in support of the striking workers.
Meanwhile FTUC’s Felix Anthony and ATSET Secretary Vili Finau have threatened to take more action in order to end this situation at ATS.
