TC Gita to intensify further,Southern Lau warned

Tropical Cyclone Gita is expected to intensify into a Category Five in the next 12 to 24 hours and people living in the Southern Lau group are being advised to prepare for the worst.
In a press briefing by Nadi Meteorological director, Ravindra Kumar, he says the severe cyclone, which is expected to affect Tonga tonight, adding the cyclone has become stronger in the past 24 hours.
TC Gita was located 650 kilometres East of Ono-I-Lau or 1000km East Southeast of Kadavu at 3pm today.
TC Gita is moving West at about 24km and is expected to continue on this track.
A hurricane warning is now in force for Ono-I-Lau and Vatoa, while a storm warning remains in force for the rest of the Lau Group.
A Gale warning is in force for Matuku, Totoya, Moala, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
A Tropical Cyclone alerts is in place for Central Lau, the Lomaiviti Group, and the Southern Half of Viti Levu.
