Rainfall intensifies in Kadavu

Maritime Islands located directly on the path of Severe Tropical Cyclone Gita are starting to feel the effects of the category four system.
FBC News spoke to villagers on the Island of Kadavu who says the weather is starting to change.
Turaga-ni-Koro from Nasau in Kadavu, Wisale Naga says as of 2pm this afternoon the winds started to intensify.
“Villagers have already put up shelter in the morning and now we are preparing for the adverse weather conditions. The seas are becoming rough and the winds are gaining momentum.”
Naga says evacuation centres have been activated with the village community hall and his own house occupied by those living close to the coast.
The Police Division on Vunisea in Kadavu is liaising with Turaga-ni-Koros to ensure they take the necessary precautionary measure.
In the island of Nalotu on Kadavu, villagers are securing their homes by installing shutters while some have opted to move to a high located, the Yavu district.
A villager, Anitekini Bainimoli says they are now experiencing light showers with strong winds.
