The Fijian economy is on track for the ninth consecutive year growth.
Economy Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says this is an unprecedented growth in the Fijian history.
Sayed-Khaiyum says the economy on an average has grown by more than four percent in the last five years excluding the 0.4 percent GDP growth in 2016 post TC Winston.
“With this buoyant performance our economy normal GDP per person in 2017 stood at over $12,000 almost doubling from $6,419 in 2006. This is the highest ever we have seen in our history even real GDP per capita reached its highest ever level at around $8,000 last year.”
Sayed-Khaiyum says many record level performances have taken place which includes foreign reserves peaking at over $2.4 billion last year.
He says even government tax collection is at its highest level despite having the lowest tax rates.
