End gender based violence says president

Gender based violence against women need to be eliminated if a country wants to progress says President, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote.
Marking the International Women’s Day celebration in Suva last night, Konrote said violence against women has a wide impact.
“Violence against women hurts everybody. It doesn’t only hurt the victim. When women experience violence families, communities and the entire families, communities and the entire country is affected through emotional, psychological and economic effects.”
The President also launched the Fiji National Service Delivery Protocol for Responding to Cases of Gender Based Violence last night.
Apart from this the 2018 National Women’s Expo was also launched.
The president urged everyone to stand up and say no to gender based violence and lead Fiji to greater heights.
