Investigations into the alleged Police brutality case in Nadarivatu has been completed.
Minister for Defence Ratu Inoke Kubuabola revealed this while responding to Mosese Bulitavu’s question on what the Ministry is doing to control Police brutality cases.
Kubuabola confirms that reports have been sent to the Director for Public Prosecutions Office while there are some other cases before court.
“Fiji Police Force will not condone Police brutality of using excessive force and the use of excessive force will be thoroughly investigated to ensure that justice is served.”
Kubuabola reveals that nine cases of Police brutality were reported in 2017.
Meanwhile earlier this year, alleged brutality cases involving Police Officers occurred in Nadarivatu, where two individuals claimed that they were allegedly assaulted by Police.
In another case, there were claims that nine Police Officers apprehended some youths at Waikubukubu Village and took them to the Nadarivatu Police Post.
