The Fijian Elections Office has received more than fifteen thousand voting screens so far from the New Zealand Electoral Commission for this year’s general election.
These screens will ensure that voting is being kept a secret on Polling Day when Fijians vote.
FEO supervisor, Mohammed Saneem says this will provide a level comfort and privacy for people when they walk into their polling stations to cast their vote.
“With the card board voting screens, the polling stations become a very open environment. An environment where one can see everything that is happening. A voter walks into an open hall sees voting screens, people and there’s a little comfort the voter gets.”
Saneem says the cardboard voting screens will be in every polling station.
The NZ Electoral Commission also provided a disability friendly voting screen that can be taken out of the polling venue and placed outside for those who can’t access the station.
