Police officer takes the stand today

Prosecution witness Police Officer Corporal Amani Boseinawai in the Nakasi murder trial told the Suva High Court this morning that one of the accused – Alipate Naimoso said he punched the deceased.
Corporal Boseinawai said in his caution interview, he observed that the accused looked frightened and when questioned he confessed that he had punched the deceased, Sitiveni Qali.
The accused also told Corporal Boseinawai that he had a fight with the deceased that resulted in the injuries.
Alipate Naimoso, Saimone Tucila Senior, Saimone Tucila Junior and Epeli Tucila are charged with one count each of murder in the death of 21-year-old Sitiveni Qali in February 2016.
It is alleged the incident occurred at a service station in Nakasi where the four accused are said to have beaten the man to death.
The witness will be further questioned when the trial resumes tomorrow.
