Supervisor OF Elections Mohammed Saneem has called out the Fiji Times for the incorrect report in the newspaper yesterday.

The Fiji Times published an article which wrongly stated that the ballot papers will be transported to Suva where the final count will be done.

”The counting that has finished ,the result have been pasted at the polling station .In Bua ,I asked the villagers record thopse results and verify it against the direct results that we announce in the final result for your polling station .In Bua I also said there is no other count after the counting has finished in the polling station”

Saneem says it is ironic that the Fiji Times made the mistake since he specifically pointed out the exact opposite of what was being reported.

“Election is in 2018 and it is important to convey the right information where responsibility comes and I would like to urge organization to give equal prominent corrections and clarifications as it would have given to the actual story that misreporting statement that given by any person.”

Under the Electoral process once the voting closes at 6pm on Election Day the Presiding Officer will announce the closure of the polling station – following which the counting will begin at the same venue.
