Police brings in more manpower for games

The Fiji Police Force is bringing in officers from all other units to assist those who will be on duty from the Totogo Station in Suva.

This as the Coca-Cola Games starts on Thursday in Suva and thousands will be coming to the capital for the three-day meet.

Chief Operations Officer Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, Maretino Qiolevu, says officers from the Special Response Unit and the K-9 unit will also be part of the operations.

Qiolevu says the operations will not only be looking at the element of safety at the games venue, but other events leading up to the games.

“There will also a park jam in the City on Saturday after the Games, our focus will be there as well, we will be beefing up the whole Suva City, will be full of police officers to monitor the movement of people and students, during the Coca-Cola Operations.”

The Fiji Finals starts on Thursday morning and ends on Saturday afternoon, while Fiji Broadcasting Corporation’s 2day FM Park Jam will be held at the Suva City Council Foreshore on Saturday night.
