The Fiji Sugar Corporation is currently in talks with two buyers from China in relation to selling and exporting raw sugar.
FSC CEO Graham Clark says the new markets for selling sugar in Asia is becoming a reality for them.
He also revealed that FSC will not be locking into long term contracts with overseas buyers.
“If you sign a contract a year ago and the prices come down by 20% you will not be happy because you are locked it. We are able to chase the right deal for Fiji so we are not going to lock in for longer than 1 season and we will chose the buyer that gives us the best returns.”
Clark says before the season starts they will have everything lined up.
He adds the objective is to get a better net return into Fiji.
