200 child labour cases recorded so far since 2011

A total of two hundred child labour cases have been investigated so far by the Ministry of Employment’s Child Labour Unit since its inception in 2011.
Minister responsible, Jone Usamate says this was done through the help from relevant agencies.
“We have withdrawn these children and return them to the various schools so the efforts of inter agencies committee on the eradication of child labour – social welfare, police, provincial administration, district officers.”
The Ministry is in its second phase to tackle child labour an also training its officers and other agencies to help address this serious issue.
Usamate says a database has been put in place to record all statistics regarding child labour.
