At least 25 workers of Green Oak Fiji have not been paid for the past two months with employees fearing the company has closed down.
Employee Nilesh Manoj Kumar says for the past few days they have been sitting outside the premises.
The Ukrainian based Joinery Company has been operating based in Votualevu, Nadi for at least four years.
Kumar says all they want is for the company to pay their wages as most of them have families and bills to pay.
“Asking from my family members and my neighbors to give something to me so that I can put food on the table and buy groceries for our house. That’s how we have to pay our payments and loans to our family and neighbors to recover the credit.”
Another Employee Manasa Tumia says they have been suffering for the past few months.
“Some of us have children, some of us are doing payments and the interest is adding up so we don’t have any wages and we can’t afford things.”
FBC News understands the company has been selling its assets without the knowledge of the workers.
Attempts to contact the management for comments remained futile.
The Labour Ministry says they are aware of the situation.
