There has been an increase in the number of violence cases against women and children in the Northern Division.
Coordinator Community Policing North Assistant Inspector Vidya Pillay says figures for the month of May show a 10 percent increase in the number of cases of violence against women compared to the same period last year.
There was a 13 per cent increase in the number of violence against children for May compared to the same period last year.
Speaking at the Northern Division Youth and Sports Conference Pillay says police will always need the help of the public when it comes to the reporting of such cases.
“We always need your help wherever you are. Only Fiji Police Force cannot fight against this. Violence against women and children, it’s a no drop policy.”
Pillay says any information from the public will assist them with their work.
